Born and raised in London, and now a Tokyo resident for over 10 years; John has grown to become a prime figure in Tokyo’s street culture and nightlife scenes through his music as a DJ and
artist, event promotions and model work; which he has been doing along with a select few of Tokyo’s best labels and street fashion brands.

His legacy started with “Codex ” a DJ duo that was him and Bigfoot (NBA / Twisted Records), which was born in London then going on to take Tokyo by storm in 2007 until 2011. From there it was “Frillnet” - Japan’s first live streaming internet radio with members Len-La-Rock,
Dafra, Bonsta, DJ Fish and more which started in 2011.

Inspired by this he moved onto to create JCB (Japan Creative Broadcasting) with UK Drum N’ Bass legend Nitch (Protected FM/Weekend Rush); a weekly pirate style live streaming video
program that featured many of Tokyo’s best DJs without fail every weekend.

After all this he delved deep into the world of internet rap starting the ‘Origami DCLXVI’ brand we
grew into the monthly event ‘Brother Works’ at Zoom, alongside DJ Konaida, Boby Feltzle (CE),
2Drink, Kobo Miyashita and JR - another cultural based event with the DJs spinning raw house to darker techno vibes with the occasional drop of jungle music.

Now he mainly focuses on his latest project ‘Funktown’; “ a cultural party that’s held every Thursday at one of the world’s top ten small clubs Birth, in Shibuya.” Alongside Daiki, Ludaini,
Len Yokohama and Omar Sanjay. This night keeps itself rooted in the idea of ‘black music’; with DJs using their groove to lead the dancefloor from boogie funk, into chicago/detroit type
house/techno/acid and then taking back down into the hiphop.

His father was an avid record collector; who exposed him to Jazz, Funk, Soul, Rock as well African music from early childhood. As he got older, in the early 1990s, thanks to Pirate radio stations he
was exposed to Jungle and then respectively UK Garage when they were both emerging scenes in London and were almost secret to the world.
